Article Processing Charges

An APC is a contribution made by the authors to make their work published in an open access journal. This amount is usually paid by research funding institutions or the authors themselves.

Why is there an APC?

The costs are involved in every stage of the publication process, such as copy editing, article conversion in different formats, uploading articles, archiving, DOI, indexing and, journal maintenance. As the journals operate in Open Access and do not receive any assistance from OA Journals Funding Institutions, so authors are asked to pay an article processing charge (APC) for their article to be published open access under a Creative Commons licence. This licence allows readers to copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format, and to alter, transform, or build upon the material, including for commercial use, providing the original author is credited.

In order to bear the variable costs associated with Open Access online publishing paradigm and maintenance of the journals, we solely depends on the authors for monetary contribution. The contributions solicited from the authors are also used in collaboration services and promotions which ultimately helps in increasing the visualization of the published manuscripts.

The actual APC for publishing an article in any journal ranges between 1049 - 1549 USD.

Waiver and discounts on APC

We understand the world of researchers and scholars. There are researchers who do not have funds but they have a great passion for innovative investigations. We respect such authors and on a case-by-case basis provide waivers and discounts on APC. The waivers and discounts are also a way to support scholars to publish more in Open Access and to create an unbiased global system of participation in the scholarly publication. We are committed to ensure that authors can publish in any Open Access journal regardless of their economic status. We have established a waiver fund to support full or partial waivers for eligible authors.

All the authors based in the lowest income countries as defined by the World Bank are eligible for APC waivers and discounts. The requests from qualifying authors residing in other countries are also considered for a partial or complete APC waiver. A qualifying author is one who has completed their research without any external financial support and wishes to publish their findings.

However, we request that those authors who have funding resources contribute actual APC or more so that waiver funds can be increased to help the researchers who lack funding resources.

Finally, with regard to publishing fees, Peertechz abides by the philosophy that APC will never be a barrier to publishing. The APC is just a resource to operate an Open Access journal for disseminating scientific knowledge to a larger reader database.
